FAQs

What is Protecting My Peace Foundation?

Protecting My Peace Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting returning citizens as they transition from incarceration back into the community. We focus on financial literacy, emotional wellness, entrepreneurship education, and practical reentry support to help individuals rebuild stability, confidence, and long-term independence.

Do I need to be recently released to participate?

No. While many of our services are designed with early reentry in mind, we also support individuals who have been home for months or years and are still navigating financial, emotional, or economic challenges.

What types of programs do you offer?

Our programs include:

* Financial literacy and credit education

* Identity theft and fraud protection

* Budgeting, banking, and money management

* Entrepreneurship and income-building education

* Mental wellness and mindset workshops

* Community resource navigation

* Storytelling and advocacy through media initiatives

Programs may be offered as workshops, group sessions, digital resources, or community events.

Are your services free?

Many of our workshops, educational resources, and community programs are offered at no cost to participants thanks to donations, grants, and community partnerships. Some advanced or specialized programs may have limited fees or require registration.

Do you help with jobs or housing?

We are not a direct housing or employment placement agency. However, we provide education, referrals, resources, and advocacy support to help participants navigate employment readiness, financial stability, and connections to trusted community partners.

Do you help with starting a business?

Yes. We offer entrepreneurship education and guidance for individuals interested in self-employment or business ownership. This includes foundational business education, mindset support, and realistic planning for legal, sustainable income generation.

Who founded Protecting My Peace Foundation?

The foundation was founded by Neona “Neechie” James and Jody James, both returning citizens with lived experience navigating incarceration and reentry. Their combined experiences shape the organization’s mission, programming, and community-centered approach.
